Tenant Spotlight: Casa de la Luz Foundation

Casa de la Luz Foundation was born in 2000 to transform the end-of-life experience into the final act of living well for those on hospice care in our community. For the past 21 years, Casa de la Luz has provided financial support to patients and families, as well as education and research about end-of-life issues.

June 2021 marks a huge transition for them as they rebrand to become Roots & Roads Community Hospice Foundation.  This rebrand will allow them to reach more hospice patients in need by expanding their focus to a larger area of Southeastern Arizona (Pima, Pinal, Cochise and Santa Cruz counties).

Highlights from 2020 include:

  • 98 hospice patients and their families received more than $70,000 worth of financial support for things like housing, transportation and final arrangements
  • 97 people participated in bereavement groups and received Foundation-sponsored grief workbooks
  • 235 individuals attended their annual End-of-Life Conference, a unique, day-long educational event
  • 108 Veterans were honored for their service through Foundation-sponsored ceremonies.

As the elderly population doubles over the next decade, and 65% of those at end of life choose hospice service, Casa de la Luz’s support of patients and families will be even more critical. They invite you to join them in supporting these individuals and their families.
